Launch of  Chess UK

Joining forces enables smart lighting market to accelerate

Following recent successes in delivering large scale, connected lighting projects across multiple verticals, 8point3LED and Lux-it have joined forces to launch a new company – Chess Wise Limited, known as Chess UK – a company dedicated to delivering Mymesh, a world-class, wireless technology for smart lighting solutions and beyond.

Under an exclusive distribution agreement from Chess Wise BV, the Dutch founders of Mymesh, combined with two years of developing new services together for the UK market, Chess UK is well placed to support clients seeking to embrace smart lighting and client looking to embrace smart building services.

Chess UK, brings together the capabilities of 8point3LED, known for securing large smart lighting projects such as Bluewater Shopping Centre, with 10,000 fixtures and Westfield (Stratford), with 4,500 fixtures; and Lux-it, known for supporting lighting OEMs with lighting technology and management consultancy to develop, evolve and

deliver strategies to embrace developing technologies such as wireless connectivity

Recently recognised at Lux 2019 and winning Emergency Product of the Year, defines the strength of the newly formed partnership and the underlying capabilities of Mymesh. Combined with recent project success with clients such as the NHS, Land Securities, URW and a number of Local Authorities, Chess UK has already enabled a number of both OEMs and Solution Providers to leverage the technical and commercial benefits of Mymesh.

Steve Williams, Chief Engineer, Bluewater Shopping Centre stated, ‘We have already deployed over 4,500 connected light fittings in the last 12 months, with another 5,500  to be installed over the next 10 months. The benefits are already clear, such as improved insights leading to more energy savings and efficiencies from the cloud-based emergency light testing and reporting. With the scalability of the system means we can look to roll the solution across our wider estate.’

With a number of UK businesses already signed up as part of the Mymesh Certified Dealership network, Chess UK continues to support them on a range of programmes whilst assisting businesses who are seeking to embrace the possibilities that Mymesh can deliver as part of a smart building programme.

Warren Thornton, Contracts Director at GA Harpers, responsible for the turnkey of the project at Bluewater Shopping centre commented, ‘We embarked on the journey with Mymesh 18 months ago, resulting in us attending the Academy Training Day and becoming a Mymesh Certified Dealer. The deployment and commissioning of Mymesh systems is a core part of our business – it has proven to be simple to install, commission and support.’

As IoT continues to make a dramatic impact on the way buildings and even cities are managed and operated, the opportunity for wireless technology has never been greater and lighting is seen by many as the first building blocks.

Han Bak, CEO of Chess Wise BV, said ‘The lighting industry is undergoing another transformational change – as it did with the introduction of LED – where wireless lighting control and importantly the data backhaul and subsequent insights for businesses, will see increasing demand for lighting manufacture agnostic solutions that are scalable, secure, resilient and importantly adaptive enabling new services for the future. We are excited about the UK market and Chess UK provides an excellent platform on which to recognise these business opportunities.’
